- Spelling puzzle. Round hardwood board with turned handle on back. On face are six radiating grooves containing the letters of the alphabet stamped on movable octagonal wooden blocks. "Pat. Applied For" stamped on bottom of board in purple ink. In square cardboard box with removable cover. Printed paper label adhered to cover: "THE / Abbott Spelling Puzzle. / A New and Charming Amusement which is adapted to all ages.", with an illustration of the game, a description of its benefits, and instructions for playing. At bottom of label: "RECORD PRINT, PLYMOUTH, N. H".
