- Portrait of Franklin Pierce (1804-1869), attributed to Ulysses D. Tenney (1826-1908), c. 1853. Oil on canvas on aluminum. Oval shaped composition on vertical rectangle canvas with white painted spandrels. Bust-length portrait of a man in profile to left. Sitter has short brown curly hair with touches of gray at sides; light colored eyes. He is wearing a black coat and waistcoat, white shirt with high collar, black stock with large bow. Green background. Gilded gesso over wood frame, stylized leaves surrounded by c-scrolls, egg and dart interior molding, gilded mat with shell and foliate scrolls at corners.
