- Seal. State of New Hampshire. Designed and engraved by John Ward Gilman (1741-1823) of Exeter, NH, 1776. Circular copper disk. The devices are, center, five arrows bound with three cords; right, a mast pine bare of limbs at the base; left, a codfish. Motto "SIGILL:REI-PUB : NEOHANTONI : *VIS UNITA FORTIOR" engraved (in reverse) in band around edge.
