Description:
Lamp. Glass, brass, and cotton. Glass font is flat, rounded in shape with tapering sides that have a diamond with bull's eye repeating pattern around edge. Shallow groove just above shoulder on top surface. Below diamond pattern side turns in a down to slightly flared foot. Four vertical mold marks on sides. One mold mark on top surface that passes through center hole and filling cap hole. Two decorative grooves on side of adapter for filling cap. Adapter ring has slight flare near bottom edge. Both metal rings held on by plaster. Some uneven tarnish areas on adapter rings, cap, and burner module to indicate metal surfaces were polished and coated. Some of the coatings have failed in irregular ways. Burner unit consists of flat wick tube with adjusting screw near bottom. Series of small perforated columns around side that are decorative and allow air flow. Top of wick tube is held on convex, brass piece of sheet metal which has small holes in rows and columns in a round pattern. Hinged chimney holder which has perforated fence around outside. Upright oval perforations and scallop to this fence. Knurled-like rim at bottom of fence and flat platform for chimney that has single row of small holes near outside edge. Small lock / catch that engages edge of lower burner unit. Slotted dome in center of chimney holder. Two small inward-bent tabs in fence that are near each other on side opposite of a horizontal knurled edge locking screw that engages the edge of a chimney. Rounded burner cover on top with slot in it and it snaps into place with two tabs. Chimney holding assembly slides up and down vertically and is spring-loaded. It creates gap 0.6" high to facilitate lighting wick without removing chimney. On end of wick-adjusting shaft is a round, flat knob with pressed-in writing on it: "PAT MAR 10/68 & MAY 6/73". 6" of wick material.
