Description:
Bracket oil lamp, tin-plated, brass. Vertically-oriented back plate with reservoir mounted on it, and burner assembly mounted onto reservoir. Sheet-metal back plate has concave, chamfered edge. Two semi-circular cutouts in upper corners. Triangular notch in bottom center edge. At top is hole through plate 0.45" in diameter. Below hole is sheet-metal bracket soldered to plate. At bottom of back plate is a similar hole at top of notch. Chamfered edge follows edge of this bottom hole. Reservoir has flat top and bottom. Side walls bulge slightly and then curve inward toward a vertical neck at front of tank. On top at right rear of tank is brass cap with small hole in center. On front of tank is a vertical cylinder. Horizontal connector between tank and cylinder for passage of fuel. Near top of cylinder is flat disc with turned-up edge. Plate is 2.4" in diameter. It has a number of small holes around edge. Interior turned-up edge for this plate and it slides over vertical cylinder. Plate is soldered to top front edge of tank. Cylinder is approximately 1" in diameter. At bottom of it is shallow, conical cup assembly with turned-up edge at its top and a number of holes in the top concave surface. Sides of cup are slightly concave near top that extends to groove and then sides are convex and follow to small diameter flat surface on bottom. Bottom has small, threaded hole in it. Inside vertical cylinder is another cylinder approximately 0.7" in diameter that extends downward. Two small brackets inside this interior cylinder seen from the top down. Bottom cup assembly appears to have polished surface with deteriorated coating or possibly a fired gilt surface that has irregular wear and/or residues on top. Evidence of similar treatment on side of vertical cylinder. Back of back plate has painted surface with two small losses. It looks like it might be asphaltic paint. The other decorative paint on front of plate and reservoir are unknown with regards to color and extent of coverage.
