Souvenir Spoon. Made by the William B. Durgin Company, Concord, NH. Silver. Pointed-ended handle, with slightly satin-like character. Egg-shaped bowl with satin finish. Lighthouse design covers entire front of handle; below the lighthouse, on the shaft of the spoon, is "PORTLAND.ME." in raised stylized lettering, vertically oriented. The lighthouse image appears to depict an eight-sided wooden structure, each side having 3 windows (6-over-6 panes), and the windows on each side alternating with the windows on the adjacent sides. At the base of the lighthouse is a door, just outside of which are bushes and a railing. Surrounding the base is a fence, in front of which is a road or path. Trees or high bushes appear around the sides of the base. The top of the lighthouse is domed, and has 3 visible spires.
The back of the spoon is flat, and has no decoration. Stamped on the back of the stem are several marks: "D" in upper-case script, within an oval mark (for William B. Durgin Co.); "STERLING" in upper-case roman letters, incuse; "PAT. APD. FOR." in upper-case sans-serif letters, incuse; and "W SENTER&CO", in upper-case roman letters, incuse.
