Description:

Pocket watch, gold. Short stem at top of case with flattened decorative oval through which round ring passes; some decorations on bottom two thirds of ring on both sides. Rounded edge on case with fine bead around perimeter. Fine rococo decorations on either side of central bead. Back surface flat with curved edge. Engine-turned decoration of circular lines that intersect at several locations to create uniform design on back. 0.2" diameter, plain, smooth disc in center of back. Hinge on lower left front for front cover. Slightly convex, clear glass front cover. Two-toned dial with engine-turned base surface. Plain hour and minute hand. Small seconds dial at bottom of front. Polished roman numerals from one to twelve. Continuous line of floral elements around edge of dial of leaves, stems, grape clusters and blossoms. Floral and fruit group around pivot point for seconds and minute hands. Border around second hand. Engine turning creates moire pattern in background. Hinge on lower left side from back to open back cover. Inside of back cover polished gold. Stamped numbers "2050" and "13680"on inside of back cover. Several small hand-scribed numbers and letters scattered around edge inside back cover. Interior convex plate with curved edge, pivoted near same place back cover is. Two holes in it with square drive shafts flush with back surface. A fine bead and groove design near edge of back inside cover. "CYLINDER ESCAPEMENT" on back inside cover; engraved with script letters "L Epine" below that; "Hands" in script below that and adjacent to small central hole; "No 13680" below that; at bottom in curve: "FOUR HOLES JEWELL'D". Interior cover opens. Eggshell gold finish on inside. Near pivot on inside stamped "80". Below it adjacent to hinge plate: "13680". Escapement and gearing exposed. Surfaces eggshell gold. Blued screws holding some bridges. Balance field jewel plate polished steel. Winding escapement gear latch and spring polished steel. Three gear wheels with deeper gold tone.
