Towel Fragment. Handwoven in a Bronson weave block pattern of squares filled with diamond shapes or stripes, created by thread floats. The warp is Z-twist cotton singles, and the weft is Z-twist linen singles. One side is selvedge, and three sides are hemmed--two of the hemmed sides were clearly done later, being not so finely stitched. The towel probably dates later than the family history would have it--at best, it might have been made for Ocean Born Mary's daughter. 1965.029.04 appears to be another piece of the same towel.
