- Description:
- Letter clip, brass and steel. Thin cast brass backing plate, roughly an elongated triangular shape with symmetrical undercuts and shapes on sides leading to small rectangular area at bottom. 0.38" diameter hole in the rounded top. Cast fine grid work of small bumps in rows and columns in the rectangular area at bottom. Cast pivot extension probably assuaged onto back plate. Two arms extend outward. Hard copper pivot rivet that connects front clip piece. Steel black-painted spring that provides the gripping motion. Front piece smaller version than back plate with its undulations and symmetrical decorations along sides. Curved at bottom end to meet back plate. Stamped lettering on lower portion of clip,"IMPROVED / LETTER CLIP". Edges of plates in decorative area are slightly beveled and polished to create slight contrast.
