- Description:
- Snuffbox, oblong. Powdery brown snuff inside that coats bottom and sides. Wood and steel. Nickel alloy. Flat, ovoid shape with clipped ends. Hinge offset to one side of top. Hinge body inset into side of top. Two, round, flush fastener heads in movable portion of top that hold inset in place. Two more fastener heads along outer edge near top and bottom edge. Probable nickel-alloy diamond-shape inlay in center of top. Top surface flat. Slightly sloping edges all the way around. Smooth, slightly rounded edge next to hinge from top to bottom. Similar feature on main body. Shaped insert on top that fits inside surface of body. Top overhangs sides slightly. Sides straight with slight rim around bottom on all sides. Surface appearance of being lacquered finish of black or very dark brown. A couple of chips where some pieces missing. Hard to tell with exposed areas what body actually is.
