- Description:
- Snuffbox, oval. Metal. Two piece box. Bottom portion, almost flat bottom. Edges turned up to create sides. A number of small wrinkles in edge. Cover slightly domed. Edges turned down to slip over base to form reasonably-tight seal. Dark brown paint on outside of base and top piece. Oval line and a dark-colored paint around edge of top. At narrow ends, four parallel lines that run across ends inside of painted oval line.In central area of top, sections of paint missing. Some red, metallic and some gold metallic colors showing through the darkened paint layer. At one edge, two lines of text written: "Peace and / Love". Around edge of bottom section at one end, appears to have some letters that are either pressed into metal or very thick paint creating them. Color difference between background and letters is very slight. Coarse medium-brown powder inside container. Some flakes in it that are slightly lighter color. Two pieces that look like powder made out of them. Roughly oval cross-section. Outside surface, a number of small irregular grooves in it. Ends appear to be finished by being pinched. Outside surface of the hardened piece, at least at ends, dark to almost black. Inside of container painted dark brown.
