- Object Name:
- Niddy Noddy
- Object ID:

- Description:
- Niddy-Noddy. Medium-brown hardwood. Slightly-swollen, central, round area of center shaft tapers slightly to a distinct bevel where it transitions to a rectangular cross section with a tenon on end. At one end, longer, rectangular transition section. Edges of that transition piece look to be chamfered. Cross arm that meets central shaft, rectangular with mortise in it. Top surface of it becomes rounded, tapers to slightly-rounded ends. No noticeable upturn on ends of cross arms. Bottom surface flat with slightly chamfered edges. Wooden pin through cross arm mortise and tenon. At opposite end, rectangular section less than half as long as its counterpart. Some cracks and pieces missing from transition area. Edge adjacent to tenon on both sides seems slightly rough compared to opposite end. End of tenon, also rough compared to tenon at opposite end of tool. Steel, flat-head screw through side of cross arm. Some cracks on cross arm on both sides adjacent to mortise. This cross arm shaped slightly differently from its counterpart. Not nearly as high from base to outside edge. Central rectangular section quite rounded on top edge. Top edge tapers down and turns up slightly near rounded end. Bottom surface flat but curves upward to conform with slight upsweep of arm. Opposite end, even more of an upturn at end on top and bottom plane. This end slightly rounded. Some circumferential wear marks in center of central shaft. Unable to tell anomalies in hardness of wood or come from original way it was shaped. Painted: "FP70D".
