- Patent model for safety latch. Patented by J. Ward Fifield of Franklin, NH. Circular brass flange with steel latch arm on back. Arm rotates into slot on rim of flange. White porcelain knob on end of arm. Copper pin holds other end of arm. Came with attached paper tag: "No. 107,895 / J.W. Fifield / Safety Latch / Patented Oct 4th / 1870.", now kept in accession folder.
