Description:
Bit bracde. Wood and brass. Medium-brown hardwood body. C-shaped crank. Double-tapered round section at center. Incised decorative lines at its top and bottom edges. It transitions into a tapered, curved rectangle with heavily-chamfered edges at its top. Bottom edge of top portion almost horizontal. It then turns sharp corner upwards. Top surface curves upwards, then over toward base of knob. Dark hardwood knob handle on top; mushroom-shaped. Slightly undercut on bottom surface of cap. Tapered down to neck area with a couple of decorative turnings below it. Appears to be brass washer at bottom edge of cap. Thin steel washer between brass of handle and a brass collar at top of wooden crank body. Flush cap of wood in top of knob that is same dark color as rest of knob. Below that cap is device to hold top knob in place on unknown central shaft. Body has similar shape to top, below central round body. Chamfers are a little deeper on edges and transition into hexagonal bit holder. Bit holder has two straps that run up side of handle. Flathead screw on one side and flat stub on other side. Adjacent to flat stub is a steel stub. Brass straps on side lead down to symmetrically sculpted edge to hexagonal holder. Wooden crank carved and inlaid to follow design edges and to be flush with brass surfaces. Hexagonal brass has scalloped edges at its bottom where it transitions into slightly concave short cone. Flat end on brass body with tapered steel insert in it. Square hole in bottom, 0.32" on a side. Spring-loaded brass knob on one side of holder which must lock bits in place. Appears to be small stamp on one side of handle near bottom, "F * [ ]".
