- Object Name:
- Pliers
- Object ID:
- 1994.508.43
- Description:
- Pliers. Steel. Adjustable pliers/hammer. Two tapering handles with flat inside surface, rounded outside surface. Handles curved and bulge outward at center of their length. Tip of one handle broken off and missing. Handles taper to rectangular cross-section and are formed into loose box joint. One jaw quite thick and wide with smooth inside surface. Opposite jaw slightly larger, has cushion shape on its bottom surface. Jaws do not meet when handles fully closed. Appears that looseness of joint may allow for different thickness of material to be held between jaws. Cushion shape on bottom of one jaw might be used as hammer and/or as pivot point for stretching something. Tip of one handle flattened and wrapped around a mandrel tube to create small hole in center.
