Mold, Bullet

Object Name:
Mold, Bullet
Object ID:
1994.508.33
Description:
Mold, bullet. Steel. Two tapered handles, vertically oriented, with flat interior surfaces and slightly rounded outside surfaces. Ends rounded. As handle shafts go forward toward pivot point, orientation goes to horizontal flat surface. Right handle overlaps left at riveted pivot pin. Beyond pivot, right and left handles become part of vertical steel rod. Rod split in half vertically. Machined cavity in center of split rod, 0.42" diameter x 1" long from top to bottom. Four ridges in cavity near top. Bottom of cavity is hemispheric. On right-hand portion, adjacent to cavity, is a positioning pin; opposite it is a hole. Top and bottom surfaces of rod are flat. On top left side of rod near back is a small rounded protuberance in vertical surface. A slotted cap-screw holds pivoting pouring funnel and passes into protuberance. Funnel is a cylinder with truncated cone on inside surface, with small point at bottom. Hole 0.2" diameter. Short, flat, tapered handle on side of funnel to maneuver on its pivot pin. Short stop on top of mold to keep pouring funnel from moving too far. Very small dimple at bottom center of cavity rod. Brown residues on mating surfaces of mold below bullet cavity.
