- Awl. Wood and steel. Turned wooden handle with bulbous center section, narrow neck, and mushroom-shaped end. Front of tool has long steel cone with inserted steel blade; point broken off and missing. Many black irregular-shaped patches of dirt on sides of handle. Two narrow decorative grooves around largest part of handle. Small hole in end of handle at center that is probably turning support point for making handle.
