- Description:
- Mortar. Wood, turned. Slightly tapered turned cylinder with two raised decorative bands on side and small decorative groove near top. In current condition, it is light tan with staining in it. Burl with ring turnings. It has small amount of healthy wood on one side near bottom. Being burl there are lots of small checks and inclusions that create uneven surface for working and for turning, working, and finishing. Paper tag near bottom that's loose. Written in ink: "Mortar / 1753".
