Mortar
- Object Name:
- Mortar
- Object ID:
- 1951.018.12 a
- Description:
- Mortar. Turned wood. Sides are straight at top, turn in slightly into a groove near base. Sides expand out to a straight-side cylindrical foot 1 1/2" high. Small incised line about 1 inch down from lip on outside. Some white residues in bottom of bowl. On inside sides of bowl are slightly concave about 2.3" down from rim. This may be due to wear from a hard pestle moving around inside bowl, because the groove is not quite even enough to be a turned feature. Worn chamfer inside lip at top. Remnants of red paint on sides above foot.
