- Description:
- Butter Press. Wood. Round print of decorated sheep design. Cylindrical cover fits over its cylindrical handle. Mold piece has decorative turnings on top surfaces. Stamp piece is a turned plank with carved sides that lead to a shoulder and then a flat-top surface. Handle threaded to fit into stamp piece. Mold cover is medium brown, fine-grained wood. Stamp piece and handle are light tan, fine-grained wood. Around sheep carving are some imaginative vegetative elements. A series of serrated patterns around outside of sheep and plain groove that goes around that. Sides of stamp are carved with individual tool marks on side of stamp. Tooling has created a number of small flat surfaces around the outside edge.
